GENERAL

NAME: Avery Davenport ; Born Nicholas Davenport
NICKNAMES: If you can think of one, have at it?
AGE/DOB: 18 - February 9, 1997
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
GENDER/PRONOUNS: Transgender (MTF) - She/Her pronouns
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
HOMETOWN: Rome, Maine (birth-8) ; Manhattan, New York (8-12)

CONCEPT: Former shy girl breaks out of her shell and enjoys senior year.

PHYSICAL

APPEARANCE: Since her full-transition last spring break, Avery has started to wear actual jeans with t-shirts that aren't super long, she loves wearing shorts and skirts and dresses. She's toned down her hyper-feminine appearance and can lounge around in lazier, less feminine clothing but she still really enjoys doing her make-up and hair. You'll rarely see her looking super haggard, anyway. Except maybe early in the mornings.

HEIGHT: 5'11"

PB: Troian Bellisario

PERSONALITY

LIKES: All things feminine; make-up, nail polish, clothes, glitter. She also loves food, coffee, costumes, long hair, reading, listening to music, one-on-ones, Quidditch, sports of all kinds, animals, binge watching television shows on Netflix, hanging out, exercising, etc.

DISLIKES: Soda, mustard, anything with olives on it, unnecessary confrontation, over-zealous competition, nay-sayer attitudes, bullying, self-depricating jokes, when people are sad, anxiety, not being able to get a point across, being walked all over.

PERSONALITY:

Excitable is a good word to describe Avery. She is living life right now. She enjoys a lot of aspects of life - and really, it was that quality that almost put her in Azurecrest. However, beyond all the excitability and friendliness, in her core Avery is kind. She deeply cares about people and their problems. She hates conflict and has often been a peacekeeper for her friends, which is a deeply rooted aspect of Ribbonfin's house and ultimately what brought her there.

Thought not confrontational, her desire to help people out often puts her in situations where fighting happens. She is wildly passionate about anti-bullying, and is not afraid to stand up to someone who is bullying someone else. After many years suffering from bullying herself, it is something that Avery simply cannot tolerate any longer. While she always wants things to remain amicable, you'd be hard pressed to find her remaining quiet in that sort of situation.

Avery is also incredibly energetic. Although she is not always upbeat and certainly not perpetually happy, she has boundless energy. She's always loved sports, running, exercising and being fit. She has a high drive to be active and finds that sports tend to suit that need the most (though, in case you were wondering, she finds shopping to be like a sport, too). When it boils down to it, Avery is a nice, fun loving girl with a big heart.

Her junior year at Goosebery brought a lot of changes for Avery. She had been hiding being transgender from her classmates since she arrived at Gooseberry, and found that she no longer wanted to do that. It took almost the whole year, but slowly Avery came out to more and more people and has found this to be the ultimate kind of freedom. She felt free before, having no one know and pick on her for it - but being able to have both everyone know AND be pretty well accepted for it has made Avery a lot more confident than she was when she first came to GB. Hell, even a lot more confident than she was at the beginning of junior year. Her change in confidence is noticeable, and another good rather than detrimental quality for Avery.

Finally, with the loss of the cup last year and losing two of her best players, Avery has a new determination for winning. She had never cared much about winning before - always one to root for doing well instead of winning, liking a personal best more than a point kind of thing. That's going to be different for her this year. Focused on proving herself and her team to everyone, as well as securing a spot as a Pro Quidditch player when she leaves GB, Avery may come down a little more hyper focused, competitive, and harsh than she did last year.

SKILLS

LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, French. Though she should have learned Spanish or something, Avery only speaks French relatively fluently. Her parents put her in lessons as a child because knowing more than one language was good, and they owned property in France. It stuck, for whatever reason, and she still speaks it rather fluently.

PATRONUS: Avery learned how to cast a patronus last year, and it takes the form of a Panther. Panthers are strong, independent, nature loving animals. However, though these qualities are something Avery does possess - a huge part of her Patronus being a panther is Olivia. She's always viewed Olivia much like a panther, which also happens to be Ollie's Animagus form.

SKILLS: Avery is first and foremost very skilled at sports. She's always been naturally athletic, and though she's not the best at sports that involve things like rollerblades/skates (ice hockey, for instance), she always does her best to try hard and play well. She's a very good Quidditch player, having been scouted last year at one of the GB games.

Life-skills wise, Avery is exceptionally good at glamour-and-appearance related magic, as well as no-maj applications like make-up, hair-styling, etc. She's naturally inclined to cook well, though her baking skills are not so great.

Not a natural born leader, when she became Quidditch Captain, Avery worked hard to be a good leader. She researched qualities of good leaders, etc, and has now become a pretty good leader for her team.

HISTORY:

The Davenports were all the sorts of negative things Purebloods tend to be associated with. They felt that they were among the highest of high class people. They were wealthy, Robert working his way into being a CEO of a major wizarding business, Octavia enjoying her life at home being a housewife and then, shortly after their marriage, a stay at home mother. They were so excited to have a son to take on the family name and, hopefully, the family business.

However, things weren't as great as one would have hoped. Their son, Nicholas, was a strange child. He seemed to rebel against anything that normal boys would like - except sports. Confused as they were, they ignored it for several long years. They continued to get him interested in boy-toys and clothes, more gender-appropriate things for a boy his age. He was getting ready to start school and they certainly did not want him to stand out or be different in the wrong kind of way.

Things just continued to get worse. In the small "elementary" school for magic that Nicholas was sent to, he was bullied and showed no obvious signs of magic. At his age, it should have been showing but it just wasn't there. Frustrated, and blaming the bad education for his inability to perform magic instead of their child's repeated concerns about his body and self-image, they pulled him from school and moved to New York, where they enrolled him in the Queen's School of Magic.

There, things continued to get worse. Though now displaying some magic, it was wildly uncontrollable and their son increasingly began to insist that he was not, in fact, a boy, but a girl. All of this rang as unforgivable qualities and the relationship between 'son' and parents strained. It was also there, though, that Nicholas (secretly, and continually, referring to himself as Avery and trying on female-pronouns) met Ollie. Ollie and her parents were the first people to kind of get what was going on with Nick, and gave her the support she needed to start transitioning.

And so it began. Avery took on the name full time. Grew her hair out, and ran away from home. Though her parents begged her to come back, it was with the caveat that she stop "acting so peculiar" and after many fights and threats, eventually relinquished their parental rights and allowed the Sanchez family to adopt her. In the process, Avery got her name changed legally and with the help of her new parents, started hormone treatments.

But the process was arduous and long, and the bullying was becoming intolerable at Queen's middle school. Worse yet, Ollie was set to go to Gooseberry and there was no way that Avery was going to be left behind. Doubling her efforts in school and particularly in Quidditch (which they found out quite easily she was very gifted at, once she was able to live her life the way she felt was true to herself), Avery managed to land a spot at Gooseberry herself, based on her Quidditch skills.

Gooseberry represented a lot of things to Avery, but the biggest thing was freedom. No one, aside from Ollie, knew who she was before she became Avery. No one knew she was born a male. There, she began to embrace herself and schooling. She excelled at magic now that she wasn't struggling so much with her own identity. She landed a spot as Keeper in Freshman year, and by her Junior year became Captain of her team. A complete 180 doesn't even describe her life before and after Gooseberry, but she tries not to think about it much.

There are always things in life you can improve on, though, and mid-way through Junior year Avery found that just being Avery wasn't enough - she wanted people to know where she came from, she wanted to stop being afraid of what would happen if anyone actually did find out. She wanted the freedom to explore potential relationships, having a boyfriend, something, anything. With help from some good friends, Avery managed to come out to the whole school over time. It was slow at first, but there was nothing more freeing to her than that. She also managed to complete her transition over Spring Break of junior year. Her confidence skyrocketed, and Avery felt pretty on-top of the world for a while.

Of course, then their last Quidditch game of the season was destroyed by a stupid Wronski Feint that actually lead to seeing the Snitch and it being caught a mere twenty-minutes into the game. It had barely started before it was over - and it wasn't just over. Their whole season was over and made completely moot in that instant. From first place to last in less than an hour. It was pretty devastating - and changed Avery's attitude a little bit about competitiveness and wanting to win. She had never wanted to win so badly, and it instilled a drive in her to win the cup in Senior year that's definitely not going away any time soon, if at all.

Then, to be further knocked down a peg or two - Anon kidnapped a bunch of students, herself included, and Brother left a bunch of other students, her sister included, to save the ones who had been kidnapped. Avery can't even imagine what kind of traumatizing things they all must have faced - and though her dream has since left her feeling unsettled and perhaps with this nagging feeling of something missing from her life, she's thankful that that's all it was for her. She's grateful to those who rescued her, and feels indebted somehow, though she doesn't know how to repay anyone for saving her life.

She spent most of her summer with Ollie, and for both of them there wasn't much of a question on whether or not they would come back. Avery had a Quidditch scholarship, they were both going into senior year, and though a lot of bad things had happened the two agreed that wouldn't stop them from graduating at one of the best schools in America. Though Avery comes back with some reservations, she's excited to start her senior and final year.

SCHOOL

YEAR: Senior
HOUSE: Ribbonfin
SORTING: Although Avery would have made a good Azurecrest with her bubbling personality, it came down to the content of her heart - her calm demeanor in intense situations, her kindness towards others and sympathy won out for Ribbonfin in the long run.
WAND: Rosewood, springy, 13 1/2 inches. Thunderbird tail feather core
FAMILIAR: A kitten named Binx

CLASSES: Charms, Hermeticism, Outdoor Education, Transfiguration, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts
ADVANCED STUDY: Occlumency. Originally, Avery took this class kind of hoping to seal her thoughts away, thinking she needed to protect her mind and thoughts from being found out. Now, however, she sticks with it because she enjoys the challenge, the process, and finds it a good way to take her outside of herself.
SENIOR PROJECT: Creating a Quidditch scoreboard similar to those you see in no-maj sporting events that would track scores, name special plays, and provide player stats.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Avery has consistently done well in school all three years she has been at Gooseberry. Senior year should prove to be no different, and she's definitely aiming to ace everything.

EXTRACURRICULARS: Dueling & Fencing, Outdoor Exploration, Quidditch (Captain), Gaming
